- Prepare 1/2 tsp Turmeric

Simple and Delicious Recipes using appliances in the modern kitchen. Lobia recipe is spicy whole lentils popular in North India made in curry style. This lobia recipe is simple to prepare and also I have made these lentils vegan. It is also called as alasandalu curry or lobia curry.
Steps to make Simple Lobia Curry:
- Pressure cook lobia/ black-eyed peas with salt and turmeric for 4-5 whistles. It should not turn too mushy.
- Add Ghee in a tadka pan, add Jeera, Hing and Garlic.
- Fry till garlic losses raw smell.
- Switch off and add red chiili powder.
- Add takda to cooked lobia and bring to boil until desired consistency.
These are soaked overnight then cooked till soft and used in curries. Lobia also go well with some veggie like lauki (sorakaya), potato, sweet potato. A super simple Black Eyed Pea Curry made the Indian way! We call black eyed pea as "lobia" Sometimes when I post these simple curries, I hear back from some people that oh the curry was. If you do not want to pressure cook again, cook lobia until soft when you pressure cook the first time itself.
